As it is known, at the beginning of July in Turkey, the “Law on Amendments to the Capital Market Law” No. 518, publicly known as the “cryptocurrency law”, came into force by being published in the Official Gazette on 02.07.2024.

Within the scope of this law, cryptocurrency service providers operating or will operate in Turkey were placed under the regulatory and supervision authority of the Capital Markets Board (CMB).

While the transition period and the period granted to cryptocurrency exchanges ended on August 2, the CMB published the temporary list of institutions that declared that they would liquidate their activities and institutions that declared that they would continue their activities, on August 5.

“The fact that organizations are included in the ‘List of Activities’ does not mean that they are authorized by our Board in accordance with the relevant legislation. Organizations will need to apply separately to our Board for authorization following the entry into force of the secondary legislation.”

According to the temporary list published by the CMB, 47 cryptocurrency companies applied to continue their activities, while only 3 crypto companies applied for liquidation.

In its statement, CMB also added that companies with missing or insufficient information and documents and companies whose investigation is ongoing are not included in the “List of Operators”.

It was seen that the companies that applied for liquidation were WooTR, Coinsate Teknoloji AŞ with the business name Coinsate and Every Bit Counts.

It was seen that crypto money platforms such as Binance TR, OKX TR, ICRYPEX, BTCTurk, Bitfinex and Bitci were included in the list of active ones.

Why Is Global Binance (binance.com) Not on the List?

Many users pointed out that Global Binance was not on the list.

Binance had previously stated that it would license Binance TR (trbinance.com), not Global Binance (binance.com). However, this does not mean that Global Binance will be banned and access blocked. Access to Global Binance (binance.com) will remain, but support such as Turkish language will be discontinued in the coming months.

Binance TR (trbinance.com) will continue to be used as before, without any changes, by obtaining a license.
