Crypto Payments App Slash To Debut Its SVL Token on Top-Tier Exchange Gate.io
Slash Vision Labs, the company behind one of Japan’s most popular crypto payments services, is looking to expand further into Asia by increasing access to its native SVL token.
Its strategy involves getting some of Asia’s most reputable exchange platforms to list the SVL token, so as to boost awareness of its brand and make it easier for users to acquire its native asset and get the most out of the services it provides.
To that end, it announced this week that SVL will soon be listed on the Gate.io cryptocurrency exchange. It’s a big coup for Slash Vision, as Gate.io is one of the most widely recognized centralized crypto exchanges of all, boasting a user base of millions and a particularly strong presence in the Asian markets it’s targeting.
The listing on Gate.io will enable users to trade SVL tokens via an SVL/USDT pair, which will go live on the platform at 12:00 PM UTC on August 30.
To stir up more interest in the imminent listing, SVL also provided details of an exclusive airdrop for GT token holders that will take place over a 48-hour period prior to its going live. From August 28 at 8.00 AM UTC until August 30 at 8.00 AM UTC, any GT token holder who places a buy order for SVL tokens will be entitled to a share of the 3,750 GT prize pool that’s been set aside for the event, so it’s a great opportunity for those users to recoup some of their initial investment.
Slash Vision is confident that the listing will be well received, due to its status as one of the most visible crypto startups in Japan, where it has cornered a large segment of the cryptocurrency payments market. The company’s flagship product is Slash Payments, a service that enables retailers and online merchants in Japan to accept payment in over 1,400 crypto tokens, including all of the big ones, like BTC, ETH, SOL, DOGE, USDC, USDT and others.
To use Slash Payments to spend crypto, all that’s required is to download the app and create a Slash Wallet that can be secured with a traditional email address rather than a standard seed phrase. That makes the wallet easily recoverable in the event users lose their password, and users can top up their account with fiat and buy crypto directly within their Slash wallet. Then they can go and spend crypto in any participating retailer or merchant store in Japan. The app works similar to something like PayPal, in that all the user has to do is scan a QR code, select the crypto they wish to pay with, and click okay to pay. It couldn’t be made much simpler.
As an added benefit for Slash users, the wallet also features integrated DeFi-like staking, where users can deposit SVL tokens in a Slash Vault. In doing so, they’ll earn interest that’s calculated based on the duration of their staking commitment — the longer they agree to stake their SVL, the greater the rewards, which are funded out of transaction fees. By staking SVL, users can receive veSVL tokens that enable them to vote on governance-related matters.
Slash Vision is looking to expand in the near future with the upcoming launch of its Slash Card, a crypto-linked debit card that will give users a way to spend their digital assets even in non-participating retailers.
In addition to Gate.io, users can also purchase SVL tokens on exchanges including Bybit, MEXC and Zoomex.
